Tracking Cell Phone Numbers, How To Do It

by Victor Silvia

So, you may be receiving unwanted phone calls, prank calls, or just need to find the name and address of the person behind a phone number.

There are a few things you can do to find the identity of the person behind the phone calls. If you are bold enough, you can call the phone number yourself. You can also have someone else call the phone number if you do not want to do it yourself. Remember, the point of calling is to find out who the person is, so make it inconspicuous. Your purpose is to draw the person into revealing their identity.

Tracking cell phone numbers down is a lot easier now with the progress of reverse phone services.

1. Google Search- One of the first things you can do is type the phone number into a search engine like Google or Yahoo. This strategy is particularly useful in identifying telemarketers and businesses that use mass phone calling. Many people experience the same phone calls from the same numbers.

2. Free Phone Directories- You can also submit your phone number to free number searches such as the Whitepages, Anywho, or 411. These sites will list landline numbers but are not particularly useful in finding cell phone owners.

3. Paid Cell Phone Directories- Another thing you can do is subscribe to a paid cell phone directory. You can submit the phone number and see if the phone number is listed in the directory. The problem is these directories are incomplete and poorly updated. Most of the time, you need to subscribe to more than one directory, making this a very expensive and time consuming option.

4. Reverse Cell Phone Lookup- In my opinion this is your best option. You simply submit the phone number to the lookup service and an instant report comes up with the name, address, carrier, and phone connection status of that individual. They are better updated and have a more comprehensive database of phone numbers.

Be very wary of reverse phone searches that claim to offer free cell phone searches. Most of these searches are very incomplete and many are scams. Be very careful if they ask too much information from you. The reports are inaccurate most the time.

I suggest go through the first two steps and if you do not find the results you want, go for the reverse cell phone lookup. It is relatively inexpensive, and gives you an instant report. Tracking cell phone numbers is becoming easier to do. If you've done all of the things described above you can call the number up yourself. If you are bold enough.
