Pregnancy is a Good Time to Guard Against Radiation

by Paul Fitzgerald

Several times during the course of the day expecting parents giggle and glow as they stare in awe at the ultrasound images of the baby. The image of the growing child in the womb brings an array of emotions and questions. What will he look like? How tall will she get?

What do I need to do to protect him/her during this pregnancy? Healthy diet, avoiding strenuous activities, avoiding stressful situations and proper rest are all absolute musts. So, however is protecting your unborn child from the dangers of continuous EMF radiation exposure. Radiation exposure comes from numerous every day sources including your headset at home or work, your cell phone and cell headsets, constructed towers in your neighborhood and yes even the trusty microwave.

Public concern over the emittance of electromagnetic or EMF radiation has largely been focused on cancer and related illnesses. Research by a wide selection of medical professionals has drawn clear correlation to some cancers and nodule-related growths and EMF radiation and cell phone radiation. While health organizations had not, in years past, seriously measured the effects of the EMF and cell phone radiation in humans that has now changed - to some degree. Reportedly, those who live near radio and related towers including cell phone towers, and those with extended time on cell phones and Bluetooth mechanisms, are absorbing 60 percent of the radiation emitted from their devices.

With such a high percentage experienced daily, there should be concern for the expectant mother. A cursory glance of radiation research literature hints that there may be some connection between non-ionized electro magnetic exposure and various health problems. The health problems reported, while not singling out pregnancy related issues, also have not disallowed the possibility of miscarriages and/or birth defects.

Expecting parents should be mindful that scientific tests conducted in recent years (involving Bluetooth headsets, microwave ovens, cordless phones, and other wireless equipment) can lead to DNA damage. Some tests also report that some damage can occur with as little as two hours of exposure to high-frequency electromagnetic fields.

Parents need not throw away every cell phone or Bluetooth device in the house. Nor should they banish the microwave from the kitchen. A more productive solution may be looking into cell phone protection including purchasing filters or headsets designed to block radiation. You may also want to consider greatly restricting how often the microwave is used. Radiation blocking technology for cell phones include items similar to standard cell phone headsets and protective covers.
