by john anderson

MySpace phenomenon was initially launched for a file-sharing forum but unfortunately it has to be disbanded in 2001 due to a poor ROI and lack of general consumer interest. Later an UCLA graduate named Tom Anderson wanted to see Myspace as a place where kids could network and form their own communities manifested in a huge way. MySpace today supports a number of media, including videos and images, and is especially popular with teenagers, who use MySpace for several reasons. Kiddy reasons vary from sharing gossip and funny videos, pictures and sites from around the Internet to meeting other teens with similar interests or potential friends within geographic proximity after their classes. MySpace also help these teens to check out prospective dates.

A MySpace page or a Friendster page has some upside and downside. Tremendous amount of information about your teen's personality and interests are revealed in this page and which is beneficial for their parents. Parents will get to know about their teen’s friends, interest, activities they are indulge in, and helps the parent to rectify the problems if they find any with their child and encourage their positive activity in a judicious way if they find those activity to be worthy in their future.

Though MySpace is generally safe, but there are prowlers who prowl the Internet with cook profiles to prey. MySpace provides new ways to the teens to interact with their friends of same interest but it also expose teens up to dangers, such as Internet addiction and stalker. Among the various downsides cyber bullying has proved to be fatal in many cases. Teens carry over their rivalry with their friends to online MySpace forum. Next spending too much time online meeting virtual friends and gradually loosing interest in their schoolwork, which is most important in building up their career.

In many ways, MySpace is a mixed blessing for teens but parents should take special care of their teens. They should behave more like a friend than like a typical strict parent. Your strict behavior would do no good to him/her instead your teen will canvass way to escape your queries. Do not be desperate in your approach instead talk with your teen about the potential dangers he/she might expose himself/herself to on MySpace and the Internet in general. There should be a good communication between you and your teen which will help him/her to discourage the ill doing and will help him/her to differentiate between good and evil that will further help him/her in the near future.
