Is There A Science In Mental Causation?

by Donald Yates

In the physical universe there are fundamental rules and boundaries which are set in their origins as well as their conclusions. Cause and Effect are simply Positive and Negative materialized.

In the material realm everything exist for experience, while choice activates cause which concludes in effect or result. While cause is a act of consciousness, effect is mechanical and mathematical in sequence. Once cause is enacted, the event follow a set course until there is a result. The result being the manifestation of the cause or action. Thought in itself cannot create or have a result without action. It is in the action of thought when materialization becomes realization and then realization becomes experience which is reality in a material world.

Some would argue the point that in metaphysics thought materializes. This is not a valid action because thought is a fleeting energy while materialization is physical and therefore, experienced. Materialization must have an action or movement to bring it about. A person may think of a house, but he/she must first build it before it can be experienced. It is in the experience where man becomes engaged in the process.

There must be a cause before there can be an effect. An effect cannot exist without a cause, the two complement each other. An experience can be projected as a probability but is still subject to change of course due to pressures place upon it. While cause begins the sequence of event leading to an end result, it does not restrict the event to a particular course. There are no two causes exactly alike. Because time, and conditions differ with each second; makes each cause unique in its course. The Universe is a constant creative process. The decision process contains multiple outcomes, each with a particular path of resistance, experiences, and realizations. Each realization effects the life force it is associated with.

Have you ever wondered, “what if”? Sure you have, we all have. We wonder, what if we had stayed at that job, never married, never moved, etc.; it's a natural inquisitiveness. Each action taken begets a reaction or result. A person is faced with multiple possibilities or choices each day. Every condition or consequence contains a possibility and each possibility has its own avenue, its own experiences, realization and conclusions.

This brings about a question, is there anything that is absolute? Or can an absolute be achieved? Absolutes exist only on a mechanical and electronic level where one action always follows another. The course is set to preform an exact movement at an exact time in a sequence of events, thus resulting in an exact result. But, this is mechanical and not the result of consciousness. A human must first think, make a decision, and then act upon it before there can be a result.

Because results are experienced they become influencing factors. A result can influence one person or a whole society depending on the severity of its exposure. Again, results are experienced and therefore become reality not only in the mind but also in the physical world. Results can be long lasting and even bring about change, like the pyramids of ancient Egypt now stand as the result of Pharaohs tribute to the Gods. Or a whole race of people can be effected by one man's rule. (Hitler)

In dealing with mind, we are dealing with a force derived from social, physical and spiritual influence. It is virtually impossible to think one way and act another. Thought controls action and therefore becomes a creative force. When dealing with thought we are talking about a force or expression while action is an illustration of thought. It is in the illustration where expression becomes apparent. Each individual is as unique in his/her thoughts as they are in look, and personality. Each person is indeed an individual in creation. That's why mankind could not have evolved because in his/her uniqueness he/she finds completeness.

In the living world, no two plants, animals, fish or bird is exactly alike. Everything in creation is unique in its place. Sure there species, breeds and races, but each is individual and still set apart as being unique in stature. No two roses are the same even though they are from the same bush. No two children are the same, even though the are from the same household. Billions of people have come and gone yet they still stay unique, why because they are created to experience each other.

Objective states of mind can not change the laws of physics nor do they enhance realization. All laws in nature are set and we cannot change or destroy them. We, in our perceptive thinking, merely transcend certain limited uses of the laws because all laws are infinite in their capacity to produce. The limitations are not in the law but in our use of it. Any law is only effective when the person dealing with it approaches in faith. Thought has no bounds except through its own limited faith. So faith becomes the power behind thought and belief makes it a possibility. Whatever you can believe and have faith in, you can bring into your realization.

Throughout the ages, faith has been recognized as a thing of tremendous power. With the faith of a mustered seed you can move mountains – but alas, faith is a thing of lessening importance where as today, there is very little true faith left. We all live by faith although we do not realize it. Each time we cross a bridge or start a car we have faith in their ability to preform. We have faith tomorrow the sun will rise and water will come from our tap but we have become creatures of habit and expectancy. Life has become routine and hum drum as we plot our way toward the end.

We expect that which makes little sense and live in a fairy tail world. The truths of the world have escaped us in our own disillusion. We make the world around us by accepting that which is and rejecting that which isn't. We all live in fear of something, real or not. That which wells up in the mind can devastate rational and make havoc of life choices.

Settle down, it's not illusion or fantasy, it's simply everyday thinking.

Happy Trails.
