Discount Printing for Posters and Getting the Value You Deserve

by maricar cadavicio

In this article, I’ve outlined six factors that affect the true cost of poster printing. Making adjustments on any one these factors will have an effect on the cost of printing and allow you to obtain discount printing.

Some of these factors may seem to have minimum impact on the price, but makes a huge difference in the long run. Hopefully, this article helps you make the most cost-effective choices for your poster printing.

1. Volume

• Cheaper by the dozen have never truer than in printing. Wholesale printing produces cheaper posters per piece. Having 500 pieces is only marginally more expensive than printing 100, and printing 3,000pcs. (30x more) can only cost twice the amount price of a hundred prints.

• Think twice about creating poster designs that can only last you a single season, or will only be good for one event. You may opt to print a classic design, you can use over and over for a long time in your various marketing campaigns.

• If you have promos, or events, you can post these generic posters, and supplement them with flyers. Make a pocket under the poster and use it as a flyer dispenser too. You can endlessly produce ways to make them more flexible and useful.

2. Size

• The bigger the size, the more expensive it becomes per square inch. It is less expensive to have twice as much 5.5x8.5 printed than having 11x17s, even though the total area is the same. 250, 5x8 flyers are cheaper than 100 11x17inch posters.

• Knowing this, you can go back to suggestion number 1. Have generic posters printed and use different flyers every time there is a promo or an event. You can also consider this idea when deliberating on the cost-effectiveness of your prints.

• Ask yourself these questions. Will giving away twice as much flyers, be more effective than putting up a certain number of posters? Or will it be more effective to give out flyers and 11x17 posters, or displaying the 18x24 posters?

3. Material

• You have the option to choose between 100lb gloss text or 100lb gloss cover. 100lb gloss text is similar to the sheets of glossy magazines, while the cover, as the title indicates has the thickness of the cover of a magazine.

• The thicker, magazine cover paper is much more expensive than thinner glossy paper. Printing 100 posters on thick paper is slightly more expensive than printing 1000pcs on ordinary paper. But if it serves your purpose and calls on your demands, it is better to see which paper stock would hold well.

• Doing this would give posters that truly work and stand up to the pressure. You’ll have more functional and long lasting posters in this process.

• More than this, it is also best to consider where you will place these posters. For indoor advertising, is it really necessary to have thicker paper? Will it be more effective to put up 100 cover posters than having 1000 text stock posters?

• On the other hand, if the posters will be used outdoors with no available bulletin board as backing, will it be wiser to put up 1000 thin posters than can all too easily be swept away by the wind?

It’s easy to get cheap posters, but getting the best value for your money is never just about getting things cheap. It is about knowing what you want, finding out how to get it in the cheapest way possible. Consider all your options. Be a wise consumer and get discount printing for your projects.
