27x39 Poster Printing: The True Price and Quality of Your Posters

by maricar cadavicio

If it’s your first time to have a poster printed, there should be a few things you may want to know. It might save you money and a lot of trouble, especially if you are thinking of 27x39 poster printing.

The regular movie poster is sized at 27x39inches, a little more than 2x3 feet. It is large enough to catch attention and contain more information than billboards and 30 second TV commercials will.

The cost of a poster per unit depends on the volume or number of copies you want to have printed. While it may be cheap to have small orders printed digitally, a large volume order is a more sensible and practical option.

Digital and Offset Posters
In digital printing, the data is sent digitally, and the printer is somewhat like your desk-jet printer, but is much bigger and more sophisticated. An off-set printer uses several plates and undergoes multiple rollers involving different colors.

• For either digital or offset printing, there is a price break where the price goes down as the volume increases. For instance, in digital printing, the price per unit of having below 5 pieces printed should be higher than having 6-10 pieces printed, and so on.

• But when it comes to offset printing, you will notice that you generally yield more posters for only a fraction of the cost. Unlike digital printing, you only end up obtaining a few more pieces at such an amount. But in offset 27x39 poster printing, you see the difference by the hundreds.

• Since producing plates entails a fixed cost, more posters means that the fixed cost will be divided by more units. The price only slowly rises as the volume of your 27x39 poster printing significantly rises.

• Different printing companies have different pricing schemes for colors. But in general, the default colors are CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black). For digital printing, all print jobs are treated using CMYK, and therefore have the same price regardless of the number of colors used. In offset printing however, you may ask the printing company if they will offer you a discount for using only one or two of the colors.

• If you are picky with your colors, and you can’t find the ones you want from the CMYK color system, there is the Pantone system. You may choose a color from that system and have your printer inject it as a fifth color. It is more expensive since the color will be ordered specially for you, and it is unlikely that the printer will receive a request for the same color.

• You must also ask the printing company for the turnaround time or the time it will take for your print job to be completed. Some companies are willing to do rush jobs (for a price), completing your printing in two days.

• However, the regular printing time of 5 business days can save you money, while the other option of 3-day turnaround time of course, costs more. Still, the 3-day turnaround time is much less expensive than rush jobs.

Most companies have sales teams and technical support ready to help you with your printing. Always asks questions and know what you are getting for every print – be it cost or quality. Explore your 27x39 poster printing options and get both the price and quality you need for high-performance prints.
