The user-interface of printing sites may differ and even the ordering process can be more complicated for some and simpler in others.
First Step: Logging in and Making an Order
You may notice, however, that in general, the online ordering and printing is almost the same. You have to have an account or make one for yourself by signing in. You can easily choose a product and select from the product specifications as to how you want your files printed – this include the paper or card stock, the size, and quantity. You also have the liberty to choose the turnaround time or the number of days it takes for the production of your color postcards to finish.
Remember that turnaround times only covers the production time and does not include holidays and weekends. Shipping time is also exclusive.
Eliminating The Confusion
After people have placed in their job orders, many clients find it quite confusing as to what to do. There are different interfaces and different means by which you can see and view your job orders.
1. Job Management Portals
Job management portals allows you to see all the details available for your print job. By logging in the job management portal, you have signed in to your own database of printing information.
You can see the details of your online order, a preview of the proof sent to you and even the status whether these are paid or not. You can also see payment history and whether or not you still have unpaid balances to settle.
More specifically, with job management portal, you can observe the status of your job order and helps you figure out what you need to do next. In certain instances, you can see that your job order is awaiting for proof approval and cannot progress from there. And so, you know that you have to review the file and approve the proof, so it can progress.
You can also gauge if everything is going smoothly with your printing project as the print progresses to gang and onwards to shipping.
2. Carts
Shopping carts are what they are, a list of the items you grabbed or selected from the site. This does not mean that these items are already paid. It is a list that organizes the items or products you want. This gives you an idea which products or files you have already placed an order for.
3. Other Programs
Other printing companies have other programs aside from these two, which you can generally find in major printing companies. Anyway, other added programs allows you to further check the status of your jobs, without committing to any order or making any upfront payments.
These are separate from the cart or the job management portal because these aren’t really formal job orders yet.
It is important for you to read on and see how exactly the printing company instructs you to go about placing an order and checking its status. Reading such fine prints may be troublesome but you will find it truly helpful for you, especially if you plan on printing more frequently in the future.
