The Importance Of Web Analytics

Web analytics is the key to knowing who your customers are, where they are coming from, and which ones are converting to products or services sold through your website. Without web analytics, you might as well be throwing away valuable marketing dollars and all the time and effort spent on your website optimization.
There are a few obvious benefits of have web analytics integrated with your website and I will talk about them below.

Web analytics helps you monitor the visitors to your website. With analytics, you will know exactly what day a visitor came to your website, how long they stayed on your site, what pages they visited what source they came from or found your website through. You will be able to track the keywords they may have used to find you in the search engines and you will be able to determine how many times a particular visitor returned to your website.

If you really want to get technical, it will tell you all sorts of fun things like the visitors nationality, language, the exact city they came from, the IP address, the internet browser they were using, and the speed of their internet. Although these features are really cool, the most important thing you will want to track is the number of visitors per day.

Next, it will help you optimize your website for the search engines. One you have a pretty good idea of who your visitors are and which pages they visit the most, you can begin to optimize your website. You will want to take a look at the keywords that they are searching for and see which pages need to be better optimized for those keywords. There are so many improvements and adjustments that you can do with data that analytics populates for you. You just need to pick a few and work on them.

Lastly, it can help your company's executives, VP of business development, and sales tame formulate a sales plan and execute it properly. Because you have actual facts about your visitors and their browsing patterns, you can better formulate how you will present your product or service to them. You will be able to track conversion based off of each page and the call to action thereon. This will in turn result in better sales optimization, where to pitch your product, and when. It will definitely lead to more sales and repeat customers.

So you see that web analytics is powerful in a few different areas. The first step is implementing it and then learning how to read the results. If you can master that, your website will be unstoppable when it comes to conversion and completing the sale!
