How To Display Your Model Tanks

by Victor Epand

If you are looking for a way to pass your time and learn an interesting hobby as well then collecting model tanks may just be for you. Collecting models can take up a good deal of space if you end up with a large collection. It can, however, help to relieve a good deal of stress as well. Informative as well, collecting model tanks can go from being a part time interest to a lifelong hobby. One of the most important decisions you will make, however, will be on how to display your models.

Whether you will be assembling your model tanks your self or buying the pre-assembled type you will find that you can actually choose from several different methods of displaying them. From building a diorama to displaying them on a shelf you will have not lack of ways that you can share your collection with others. If you choose to build a diorama then you might want to make sure to maintain historical accuracy.

Look up the time period that you your tank could be found and see what sort of setting it was used in. You would not find a WWII British tank being used in a desert setting. Likewise, you would not see an American M1A2 Abrams set in a WWII setting. Having the historically correct diorama for your tank can make a better impact than having it set in a generic one. Get creative and add small plants and water features to your diorama to really dress it up.

Make sure that you build your diorama as close to scale as possible so that it will look much more believable. Knowing the scale of your model tank will help you to correctly scale the rest of your diorama. By building such a diorama you will also be taking part in a hobby that has been around for a great many years. Diorama building has long been used to recreate exact scenes but the number of diorama builders has dropped over the past few years. Without new builders joining the ranks there is a very real possibility that the hobby could die out altogether.

If you would rather not go through the trouble of creating such a complex means of displaying your model tanks then a beautiful display shelf can do your models justice as well. Make sure to place them in a room where they can be enjoyed by all. No matter what method you use to display your models make sure that you carefully dust them from time to time so that they will last much longer. With a little care you can enjoy your models for many years to come.
