BINGO-beano

Bingo was originally called as “Beano”. It was the country fair game where a dealer would select numbered discs from a Cigar Box and players would mark their cards with beans. They yelled “beano” if they won. The game we now call as online bingo thought to have originated in Italy and also it is thought to have its origin from the Italian Lottery which was played every Saturday since the time it was started in 1530 and by 1770 it actually started spreading to the neighboring countries like France and caught the attention in the Elite group.
The first card which was used to play this game consists of three horizontal rows and nine vertical columns and each column consists on 10 numbers each with first column being numbered 1 through 10, the second 11-20 and so on with the last column containing numbers from 81-90. And each Row contains total of nine squares out of which five containing the numbers and four of them were blank and arranged in random order.
To play the game wooden chips numbered 1 to 90 were placed in a bag and pulled out one at a time. Every player use to have a unique card and the first person who completely covered a horizontal row won the prize.
By 1800 the popularity of this game spreads over the whole Europe and the game we know as Bingo was known as Beano at that point of time.
It was a mishearing of the word Beano that led Bingo to have its modern name. After the Bingo game was introduced in US, it underwent several changes until it became the game we know today.
