An Overview of Online Blackjack

by Gene Marshall

The world of online blackjack is an exciting place where you can play blackjack for free or for real money whenever the urge strikes. In order to play blackjack online all you need is a computer and an Internet connection.

Internet blackjack is played by the same rules as live blackjack. Therefore, if you are already familiar with how to play this popular card game then you can get started playing blackjack online quickly and easily. If you are not familiar with blackjack rules, they are easy to learn and playing blackjack on the Internet is a great way to familiarize yourself with the rules and learn how to play the game.

A blackjack game is played against a dealer. The objective of the game is to obtain a hand that is of a higher value than the dealer’s hand without breaking 21, or “busting.” In blackjack, hand values are determined by adding together the value of each card in the hand. Numbered cards are worth their face value; face cards are worth 10 points; aces are worth either 1 point or 11 point, whichever is more beneficial to your hand. When you play blackjack you will place your bet and then receive 2 cards from the dealer. The dealer will take 2 cards as well but only 1 will be exposed to you. Based on your cards and the dealers exposed card, or up-card, you must choose to stay or to hit, asking the dealer for more cards to increase the value of your hand. Once you are satisfied with your hand the dealer will expose his hand. If his hand is “soft 17” (an Ace and another card totaling a value of 17) then he must hit. At the end if you beat the dealer you are paid and if the dealer wins then you lose your bet.

Playing free blackjack online is a great way to familiarize yourself with the rules of blackjack and practice to improve your skills. You can also learn and practice blackjack tips to improve your strategy when you play online casino blackjack for free. Some helpful tips that can help you to improve your blackjack skills include learning about advanced blackjack game rules including splitting doubles, doubling down and insurance. Additionally, learning about blackjack odds is a good way to improve your blackjack skills.

Once you have practiced and improved your skills by playing free online blackjack you may choose to participate in real-money blackjack gambling online. When you play real-money blackjack games you can choose from a variety of different betting limits from low-limit to high stakes blackjack. There are also blackjack tournaments online.

In order to get started in the world of online blackjack all you have to do is download blackjack software. Software is free to download at most online casinos and you can use the software to play blackjack for free or for real money. Many sites also offer great bonuses to new players to help you build your blackjack bankroll.
