Why Father-In-Laws Are Celebrated In America

by Andrew Gibson

There are now many free e-cards available to select online to send to your father-in-law. Father-in-laws have been recognized in America for all of the hard work that they do and in their honor there has been a holiday named Father-in-law day. Many people now send free e-cards to celebrate this event.

The legal contract of marriage binds much more than just two people to one another. The basic family unit within most human societies, referred to as the nuclear family, comprises of a man, a woman, and resulting children. Marriage, the institutional form of life partnership, is also the way in which groups grow to incorporate more genetic material into a kin-based society. Thus, along with a spouse, a married person is additionally challenged with lifestyle differences, interests, skills, preferences, and most importantly a select group of the spouse's loved ones.

As a key member of that set, the father of the bride or groom plays a unique role in accepting the new mate, thereby letting his child's new partnership not only alter his own family unit, but also create a new one. Though the relationship with one's father-in-law may be sticky or uncomfortable if personalities clash, maintaining a civil one with this important figure in one's spouse's life is vital to the health of a marriage, both nuclear families, and by extension, all of family-based society.

Honor your father-in-law with something he would appreciate: a visit with the grandchildren, your spouse, and yourself, a gift, or a simple phone call. If your family lives with your spouse's father, additional responsibilities relating to them most likely fall on his shoulders and perhaps some time without that burden might do him good. That may mean that you and your rowdy bunch should clear out of the house for a weekend or just a few hours to give your father-in-law some well-deserved peace and quiet. If, on the other hand, you don't see much of your spouse's family, a homecoming gathering would be a wonderful event to organize.

Try to incorporate other family members, for example your own parents, to strengthen family ties or to forge them anew. If your father-in-law and yourself don't get along, Father-in-Law Day is the perfect opportunity to extend a friendly hand. You don't have to become best friends, but an attempt at mutual respect is not too much effort for the sake of your spouse and/or kids.

It can now be seen that Father-in Law Day provides the perfect opportunity to thank family members for their love and friendship. By sending free e-cards lets the recipient know just how much you value them. You can personalize the ecard by adding your own special message. The recipient can then choose another ecard and send it back to you. The best thing of all is that it is possible to send free e-cards. This then makes it possible to remember other family members and send them free e-cards.

There are thousands of free e-cards to choose from for family friends and relations. They help families keep in touch and make for a great way of cheering people up. So remember when it is next Father-in-Laws Day to send lots of free e-cards to your family and friends.
