MEGA MEASUREMENTS
MEASURING TOOLS
Mega Measurements CC is a company dedicated to the sale and service of Measuring tools, namely Flow Meters and Pressure Transducers. Mega Measurements is a South African based company, established in late 1992. It is currently operating out of Germiston, Johannesburg.
In May 1999 Mega Measurements acquired Pulsar Process Measurements Agency for Sub-Saharan Africa. Pulsar is technologically advanced and is the specified Continuous & Point Level Measurement Instrument supplier of products in the range of Contact Measurement, Ultrasonic Measurement, Non Contact Level Measurement and Flow Measurement Equipment.
Mega Measurement has national representation of its products in all major industrial areas. It is a member of several industrial organisations in South Africa including the chemical, mining, water and waste industries.
Amongst our “Blue Chip” customers, Pulsar was the specified Level Measurement Instrumentation supplier to two large expansions, namely Everite and ERWAT, Waterval Sewerage Works, smaller projects include supplying: Johannesburg Water (Pty) Ltd, Erwat, De Beers Consolidated Mines, D.W.A.F & Eskom.
Today Mega Measurements is a leading supplier of measuring tools to South Africa. Products are distributed across all industries and specialised in ultrasonic flow meters and pressure transducers.
Water Industry Services
Mega Measurement has built the business around the needs of the water industry, within which the principle of non-contacting ultrasonic level measuring, ultrasonic flow measurement and control is extremely well established. Mega Measurements has grown to the position of market leader in open channel ultrasonic flow monitoring and a major force in ultrasonic pump station control.

Solids Level Measurement Services
Mega Measurements produces a range of products ideal for use in solids level measurement applications. Single point level measurement such as rotating switches and vibrating probes, with options for varying the length of the probe and high temperatures, and also our world-beating non-contacting ultrasonic range. For ultrasonic flow measurement equipment, solids applications present particular issues. The ultrasonic principle depends upon measuring the time it takes for a sound wave to reflect from a surface. Solids are characterised by the way that they do not lie flat, and maybe consist of large, irregular pieces. Other pieces of plant, such as cross braces in a vessel also intrude and the result is an echo trace that is a whole hotch-potch of conflicting signals

Liquids Level Measurement and Control
Throughout industry, Mega Measurements has specialised in non-contacting and non-invasive liquid level measurement applications. Mega Measurements can provide single point level measurement from outside the vessel using the Mega Measurements Point 600 measurement tool, which sits on the outside of a vessel and provides a signal as the liquid level inside the tank reaches it. A perfect solution for many applications with a minimum of engineering required.

Process Protection including Sand-in-oil monitoring
Process Protection covers a variety of applications within the Mega Measurements range. Our skills are in acoustic, ultrasonic monitoring, and we put these to good use in monitoring either absence or presence of flow in solids or liquids, or warning of over- or under-flow rates.

Flow Measurement Services
There are two arms to our flow monitoring activities. Non-contacting ultrasonic measurement using our Flow Oracle 160 measurement tool (now incorporated into the Ultra 3 & 5) has become a standard through much of the Water Industry both in the SA and throughout the world, in most cases measuring (to BS3680) flow over a standard Primary Measuring Device such as a flume or weir, but also working with velocity sensors in, for example, a half round pipe. Process Industry users take advantage of the advanced features to measure effluent and other outflows.
