Sitepoint.com Domain Name Forum Review

by John Motson

Sitepoint.com is an Australian based web community. It is an internet development enthusiast's "candystore". It is split into a large education article section, education videos section, educational blogs section and a large forum community which prominently features an outstanding domain name marketplace.

Registration is completely free. Once registered, you are free to browse around and read all the forums sections that you like. If however you decide to sell a domain name or website, you will face paying for a placement. Currently, placing a domain name for sale will cost you $5 US. If your domain name is valued at atleast $xx then listing is definitelly worth it due to the large amount of traffic Sitepoint.com experiences. It is a highly reputable community and as such gets many visitors, many of which happen to be end-users... a domainer's favourite.

Just like most of the other domain name market places, Sitepoint.com has a buyer-seller rating system. Once a transaction is completed between two domainers, they go to the effort of rating each other. The rating system helps you decide whether a seller or buyer is reputable and whether the risk of trading with them is small. Sitepoint.com of course transfers all the risk of the transaction to the trading parties.

Being such a large website, Sitepoint.com does however lack in the "sense of community" department. A more professional approach to the domain name sales has cut out the human factor, while introducing a stricter, rules based system. This can be a positive since it discourages the lowballers and the cheats.

Sitepoint.com is a solid medium to high level domain name marketplace. If you own a valuable domain name, Sitepoint.com is definitelly one of the places you should consider as a candidate for your domain name sale placement.

Similarly to DNForum.com, Sitepoint.com lacks a live chat feature. Live auctions are also missing. On the other hand, a superb contests section provides you with a perfect place to order your logo and website designs. Sitepoint.com prides itself in being home to some of the best graphics and web designers that offer their services for sale. So if you have purchased your domain name and require some development work, you should definitelly check out the Sitepoint.com contests section.
