Becoming Like Brian Keith Voiles

by Steven Gerber

A good if not the best copywriter - that's probably what you would like to be known. But it takes more than just a dream to become an effective copywriter. You may look upon Brian Keith Voiles.

Brian Keith Voiles dreamt good dreams too. He was once an ordinary brick-yard worker. He also worked as a janitor on a part-time basis. He even ventured in to the world of enchantment by being a skilled magician. Now, he is named as "One of the World's Greatest Living Copywriter."

You can become another Brian Keith Voiles by nurturing your talent. To keep your dreams come true, the following keys to success might be helpful.

1. Write to make a sale. For every piece of material, "to make a sale" should be your topmost priority. Your material does not need to be flowery. It does not need to contain highly prolific words. Keep your terms simple and easy to understand. But remember, you need to make your words strong to captivate the interest of your target audience.

Always end with a positive buying statement. Decide for your audience - they will buy. Do not let them decide by writing ambivalent statements.

2. Be an expert with the product or service you are offering. You will be competent and credible as a copywriter if you know how to give value to the products or services you are presenting to your market. Let your audience know the benefits they will gain if they buy the product or if they patronize the service you are offering them. Let them realize the loss they will undertake if they do not buy the product or service.

If for instance, your target audience spots a weak point in your presentation, learn to turn the negative point into a positive one.

3. Get people to back you up. You may write well or be an expert in your field but it will be of great help to you if you can show people the individuals or companies you have worked with. It is best if the ones you have worked with will give verification that you are indeed good in your career as a copywriter.

Post testimonials on your website so visitors can take a peek and learn more about yourself.

4. Show them what you got. Apart from people's testimonials, it is recommended that you post sample advertising materials. Design a "portfolio corner" on your website to showcase your craft so visitors will have an idea on the quality of your work.

With this kind of business, the saying "to see is to believe," is very true.

5. Be positive. Even though the whole world is dragging you down, do not let it affect you. What you need to persuade people is to let them feel what you feel about the product or service you are presenting to them.

Your words are your power. If they can read and feel that your words seem weak, they will never become aware that you and your work exists. Write positive. Make your words affirmative. Let them feel your words.

There is more to dreaming - you need to work on your dreams. You need to sweat and suffer in order to experience the beauty of claiming your dreams. Brian Keith Voiles dreamt good dreams, but he never stopped there...he worked hard, real hard to achieve the name he has now.
