Being able to send alerts to predefined groups across your network can be a real time-saver. The ability to simultaneously message thousands of clients on a network is a feature long since abandoned by Microsoft. We aren't getting mass messaging applications built into XP or Vista, more and more people are turning to 3rd party softwares in the hope to find the ideal solution that allows them to send messages to predefined user groups, computer groups, AD objects/groups and OU's.
As of late i've been researching such softwares and recently happen to stumble upon ReachPlus Pop-Up Alerts. Now, i don't want to bore you with incoherent garble about this application, so instead i'll give you a break down of what unique features the application offers:
ReachPlus is a product of tekAlign Inc. The company specializes in one-way alerting solutions. Their product, ReachPlus Alerts was first released early 2005 and was a basic, one-way alerting solution consisting of a console to send alerts, a server and client; server and console could both be installed on one machine. After the initial release of ReachPlus Alerts (Basic) an Advanced version was released, this particular version of the famous alerting software allowed a user to create IP groups and enabled one to send alerts to multiple groups simultaneously.
Now, after 3 years of first hitting the market, ReachPlus Alerts Enterprise is in the work. This power alerting application not only sends alerts to IP based groups but also sends alerts to Active Directory objects/groups (your AD groups are imported into this application from where you can then select the objects you'd like to add to the group you create), user groups and OU's. Coupled with fancy alerting features, ReachPlus Alerts Enterprise allows for one to send alerts using nearest available machine via a web-based console. User's with sufficient rights may send alerts using the web-console. In the case of an emergency such features not only save time but can also help in saving lives.
