Find Out How to Motivate Employees: The Elements of Greatness

by Jim Sirbasku

People are the most valuable asset in every business. Keeping them engaged and motivated in their work is the key to a successful, productive workforce. While some employees produce to their highest capability regardless of the incentive, others need an occasional spark of motivation. When handled effectively, the result can be greater productivity and increased employee morale.

Motivating employees can be one of the biggest challenges an employer faces. Constant pressure to increase productivity, profitability and revenue growth can often overshadow the importance of how an unengaged workforce can negatively affect corporate performance. Managers must find ways to understand what drives each individual employee within the context of their respective roles in the workplace.

Every employee has a different reason for working. Some employees may be motivated by things like quarterly performance-based bonuses, opportunities for advancement, training and development prospects, personal satisfaction, flexible working conditions or additional paid time off. Some even work for love of what they do. Others work to accomplish goals and feel as if they are contributing to something larger than themselves. The list could go on. Whatever the reason may be, employees must find some satisfaction in their work or they may become unhappy and unproductive.

Employee motivation is the cornerstone of a successful company; it's critical to the long term health and success of a business. By ensuring employee engagement, managers can set their entire workforce up for success. Motivated employees are more productive, more creative, eager to help grow the business and happy in their environment. This leads to greater sales, new ideas, high employee morale and satisfied customers.

Many companies use employee assessments to help them find ways to motivate employees as individuals. This provides better results as each employee's reason for working is unique. By using assessments, managers are able to find out what makes employees want to live up to their full potential. Even still, encouraging each individual employee to not just be the best, but to be the greatest they can be can be one of the most difficult tasks a manager can face.

The video, "Employee Motivation: Elements of Greatness," invokes the passion and drive that motivates greatness in lives, careers, relationships, dreams and future plans. Employers can use this video to create a spark in the workplace that ignites excitement and enthusiasm in their employees.
